About

Nancy Wheelton and baby goat that needed a cuddle!

Nancy Wheelton graduated over twenty years ago from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Nancy spent the first few years after graduation working in a small animal and farm animal practice in a small town in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.

The stories in her manuscripts take place in Thresherton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thresherton is not a real town, but a conglomeration of all the small towns Nancy visited or worked in while she lived in Saskatchewan.

The animal stories in her manuscripts are Nancy’s from her practice or from her imagination. Even twenty years later, she can still remember kneeling in the straw, on a freezing February day, her arm buried to the shoulder, tying to dislodge a calf so she could deliver it.

Nancy is a practicing veterinarian and resides in Ontario, Canada.

In her spare time, Nancy enjoys nature photography, kayaking, and working around her cottage on the beach on the north shore of Lake Erie. It’s a beautiful place to write.
